10,000 Maniacs, a beloved independent American band, has been together for over four decades.
They’ve been recognized as cult heroes, mainstream stars, and alt-rock pioneers.
The band’s creative core and trademarks of eclectic music and poetic lyrics have remained consistent.
In 2023, the band is introducing two new members: lead singer Leigh Nash and guitarist Matt Slocum.
Nash and Slocum are founding members of Sixpence None the Richer, known for hits like “There She Goes” and “Kiss Me.”
The two bands have a longstanding friendship, with Sixpence opening for 10,000 Maniacs in their early days and Leigh later joining them on stage.
The new lineup will debut in the fall 2023 shows, promising fresh interpretations of Maniacs’ classics, Sixpence songs, and other surprises.
Any song from the Maniacs’ extensive catalog, including hits, fan-favorites, and new compositions, could appear in the setlist.
The original lineup still includes bassist Steven Gustafson and keyboardist Dennis Drew, who co-founded the band in 1981.
Drummer Jerry Augustyniak joined shortly after, and founding guitarist/singer John Lombardo returned full-time in 2015.
All four members have played significant roles in songwriting and shaping the distinctive instrumental sound of the band.
