Rules and Policies

Keeping It Safe and Fun at Spirit of the Suwannee

Hey everyone! At Spirit of the Suwannee, we’re all about having a blast while keeping things safe for everyone—campers, staff, and the beautiful nature around us. We’re big fans of the “Tread Lightly” approach and have set up some rules to make sure our park stays awesome for everyone. Remember, these rules are here to keep accidents low, injuries rare, and our park looking as gorgeous as ever.

Golf Cart 101: Do’s and Don’ts

The Basics

  • Who This Affects: Anyone and everyone using a golf cart in the park. Doesn’t matter if it’s yours, rented, or borrowed—you gotta follow these guidelines.
  • Allowed Golf Carts: Stick to gas or electric carts with factory specs—engines can’t go over 14 horsepower. And keep those mods tasteful: 4” to 8” lifts and tires no bigger than 23’ x 11’ x 12’.
  • Keep It Quiet: Your cart’s muffler should be as quiet as a mouse (or at least not louder than the factory version).
  • What’s Not Welcome: Leave your ATVs, dirt bikes, hoverboards, and any non-golf cart rides at home.

Costs to Consider

  • Trail Fees: Bringing a golf cart? Show us your insurance ($25,000 personal/$50,000 accident/$10,000 property) and cover the trail fee, which ranges from $30 for a regular day to $60 on holiday weekends. Event fees vary, so give us a ring before bringing your cart to a festival.

Driving Etiquette

  • Safe Driving: Always have your license on you, stay sober, and keep to one passenger per seat. Texting while driving? Big no-no.
  • Speed Limits: 10 MPH is the max on paved roads; drop it to 5 MPH in busy spots and on trails.
  • Curfew Hours: Park your cart between midnight and 6 a.m. (or 2:30 a.m. to 6 a.m. during events).
  • Respect the Trails: Stick to paved and dirt roads. And if you see a horse, pull over, cut the engine, and let them pass with a smile.
  • Accidents: If something happens, report it to the Park Office ASAP. For emergencies, 911 is your best friend.

Sound Rules and Parking Tips

  • Music Etiquette: Keep your jams low during outdoor performances and from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Share your music, but let’s not disturb our neighbors.
  • Restricted Areas: Some spots are no-go for golf carts during events. Need help getting around? We’ve got ADA shuttles ready to assist.

We’re here to have a good time, but safety and respect for the park and each other are key. Let’s keep the tradition of carting at the park alive by following these rules and treating the place like the paradise it is. Thanks for helping make the Spirit of the Suwannee a fantastic place for everyone!
